Elbsteel là một tiểu hành tinh vành đai chính. It was recorded ngày 12 November 1990 bởi Duncan Steel ở Đài thiên văn Siding Spring ở Úc và named after his son, Elliot Lewis Barnaby Otto Lewis Johnson Magnus Lexington Fae Tang Steel (E. L. B. O. L. J. M. L. Steel).[1] Elbsteel had previously been recorded as 1968 UP1 và 1990 VC1.
There is some controversy about the true name of the asteroid và the shortening of the name to "Elbsteel" has been debunked by Duncan stating that "The integrity of my find has been undermined by freemasons và naysayers". Also the child which the asteroid was named after (Elliot Lewis Barnaby Otto Lewis Johnson Magnus Lexington Fae Tang Steel) has later denied the existence of the asteroids và publicly stated "The asteroids were tales twisted by my father và should not be taken seriously".
