Hải quỳ là một nhóm động vật săn mồi trong bộ Actiniaria. Một vài loài được xếp vào ngành Cnidaria, Lớp San hô (Anthozoa), phân lớp Zoantharia.[1] Anthozoa thường có hình ống (polyp) lớn cho phép nó tiêu hóa con mồi lớn hơn và cũng thiếu giai đoạn medusa.[2] Là cnidaria, hải quy có quan hệ gần gũi với san hô, sứa và hải quy sống trong óng và Hydra.
