Lycoperdaceae là một họ có 150 loài nấm thuộc Agaricales. Trước đây nó được đặt vào trong bộ Lycoperdales. Các thành viên họ được biết đến là các trứng nấm thực sự. Không giống như các loài nấm khác có các bào tử ở lá tia. Căn cứ trên phân tích phylogenetic sử dụng rDNA, Lycoperdaceae đã được chứng tỏ là một họ trong bộ Agaricales.[1][2] Bên trong Agaricales, các phân tích phylogenetic đã cho thấy nhóm này là một phân nhóm trong Agaricaceae. Bốn clade lớn có thể phân biệt trong Lycoperdaceae: Lycoperdon, Bovista, Calvatia, và Disciseda.[3] The latter three clades correspond roughly to the current circumscription of the equally named genera Bovista, Calvatia, and Disciseda.
