Prototheora hay "bướm đêm nguyên thủy châu Phi" là chi bướm đêm duy nhất trong họ Prototheoridae thuộc bộ Cánh vẩy, trong liên họ Hepialoidea. Các loài bướm trong họ này là loài đặc hữu của Nam Mỹ.
