Graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agronomy in 1981 from Can Tho University. Graduated respectively with a master's degree (1995) and a Ph.D degree (2006) in Soil Science at the University of Ghent, Belgium. In addition, attended several advanced study courses in applied science, agricultural land, remote sensing (RS) - geographic information system (GIS), nature conservation in Taiwan, Israel, Netherland, Germany, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Activities summary.

From 1982 - 1984. Participating in Mekong Soil and Environment Project in the Lower Mekong Delta, Vietnam (VH 10 Project cooperated between Agricultural Wageningen University and Can Tho University).

From 1985 - 1986. Participated in surveys, soil mapping, natural plant assessment in Plain of Reeds (National Project 60.02 supported by the Government of Vietnam).

From 1986 - 1988. Coordinator supported soil survey and mapping activities in the Plain of Reeds, Long An province (National Program 60B).

From 1986 to 1989. Project manager of Land assessment in the lower basin of Long An province (Provincial program on assessment of land resources).

From 1990 - 1992. Team leader on soil survey and mapping of degraded grey soils in the Lower Mekong River Basin (SAREC Project supported by the Swedish Government).

From 1998 - May 1999: Technical expert of the project on Application of RADARSAT for Rice Monitoring Project in the Plain of Reeds, the Lower Mekong Basin.

From 1998 - May 2000: Project manager of one of the project's activities of National Project KC.06.08 on Evaluation of Socio-economical and Natural Conditions of the Flooded Areas of the Lower Mekong Delta Basin, Vietnam.

From 1998 to 2001: Participated as a technical expert in Darwin Melaleuca Wetlands Project, Lower Mekong Delta Basin, Vietnam. Royal Holloway Institute for Environmental Research (RHIER), London University, United Kingdom.

From 1999 - 2002: Participated as a technical expert of Black & Veatch International in the project of assessing agricultural land resources in the Southeast region for the construction project of Phuoc Hoa reservoir (2000 - 2002) supported from ADB, and Multi-purposes project of water resources in the Mekong Delta (2001 - 2002) supported from WB.

From 2001 - 2003: Participated in SE Asia Wetlands Biodiversity Project. The Royal Holloway Institute for Environmental Research (RHIER), University of London, United Kingdom.

In 2004: Participated as a technical consultant of Dong Nai River Basin Project supported by ADB. Vietnam MARD Project.

In 2005: Participated as a consultant of land evaluation for the resettlement Area in Dak Nong and Di Linh in Dong Nai 3 Hydroelectricity development project in the South East Region, Vietnam.

From 2012 - Jan. 2015: Consultant leader of assessment and restoration of peatland forest and ecosystems toward climate change adaptation in Ca Mau Province, Vietnam. ENRICH-SNV

Participating as a consultant for international organizations such as co-manager of Mekong Wetland Biodiversity Programme (UNDP - IUC-MRC), consultant of IUCN (2014 - 2018) for activities of wetland and peatlands resources conservation in Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam), WWF - assessment and management planning on Ramsar sites (Tram Chim and Lang Sen Ramsar Sites), GIZ - assessment and mapping of ecosystems and peatlands in U Minh Thuong Ramsar Site, UNDP - design environmental monitoring network of Con Dao Ramsar site, especially as the national representative on peatland resource rehabilitation and conservation in Vietnam (2006 - 2015) and regional expert for peatland assessment in Southeast Asia (2012 - 2021).
