Cette flèche était faite d'une charpente de 500 tonnes de bois, recouverte de 250 tonnes de plaques de plomb (oxydé en surface). A cette température le plomb (métal toxique et source de saturnisme) se liquéfie, puis est en partie sublimé en vapeur et nanoparticules, source de fumée toxique
