Ailuropoda là chi duy nhất trong phân họ gấu Ailuropodinae. Hiện tại chỉ còn duy nhất một loài còn tồn tại trong 5 loài của chi này là loài Gấu trúc lớn (Ailuropoda melanoleuca).[1]
