Takes groups of three parameters (triplets) that indicate a part of an etymology and produces formatted output. It is highly recommended that in-line etymologies be placed within parentheses, i.e. ({{etymology}}).

Có thể thiết định từ một đến sáu bộ ba, mỗi bộ sẽ bao gồm các tham số sau (có thể bỏ trống hoặc tỉnh lược hoàn toàn ở cuối danh sách):
- ngôn ngữ: Mã ISO 639 hoặc tên ngôn ngữ. Không cần điền nếu danh tính ngôn ngữ rõ ràng.
- chính tả: Cách viết chính thức của từ hoặc cụm từ trong ngôn ngữ đang xét. Nếu ngôn ngữ đó sử dụng bảng chữ cái phi-Latinh, biên tập viên nên thêm hai cặp dấu phẩy lửng để tránh việc bản mẫu tự động biểu thị từ in nghiêng (xem MOS:Ety), kèm với phiên âm trong ngoặc đơn.
- ý nghĩa: Giải nghĩa ngắn gọn từ hoặc cụm từ bằng tiếng Việt. Có thể tạo liên kết nếu cảm thấy hợp lý.
