Giải Bancroft (tiếng Anh: Bancroft Prize) là một giải thưởng hàng năm của Ban quản trị trường Đại học Columbia dành cho các tác phẩm viết về ngoại giao hoặc lịch sử của châu Mỹ.

Giải này được thiết lập năm 1948 do tài sản di tặng của Frederic Bancroft và thường được coi là một trong các giải thưởng uy tín nhất trong lãnh vực lịch sử châu Mỹ. Khoản tiền thưởng của giải là 10.000 dollar Mỹ (trước năm 2004 là 4.000 dollar Mỹ). Trong số những người đoạt giải này, có 16 người đã đoạt Giải Pulitzer về Lịch sử.[1]

Vụ việc gây tranh cãi[sửa | sửa mã nguồn]

Giải năm 2001 được trao cho tác phẩm Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture của Michael A. Bellesiles, sau đó tác giả này đã bị tố cáo là không trung thực trong học thuật. Sau các cuộc điều tra độc lập, Đại học Columbia đã hủy giải của Michael A. Bellesiles trong năm 2002.
