Khasekhemre Neferhotep I là một trong những pharaoh cầm quyền hùng mạnh nhất của Vương triều thứ 13. Ông đã trị vì trong khoảng 11 năm vài tháng, được cho là khá dài đối với các vị vua thời đó[1][2].

Vợ của Neferhotep I tên là Senebsen. Ông có ít nhất 2 người con, được đặt theo tên của cha mẹ ông, là Haankhef và Kemi[2][5]. Một vị hoàng tử chết yểu là Wahneferhotep có thể là con ông, vì trên quan tài nhỏ đó có đề cập đến một cái Neferhotep[6].

Trị vì

Sihathor đã đồng cai trị trong một vài tháng cuối cùng trị vì của Neferhotep[7]. Ông chưa bao giờ có được một triều đại độc lập cho mình do đã chết trước Neferhotep. Sau đó, có thể Neferhotep đã chia sẻ ngai vàng với người em còn lại, tức Sobekhotep IV. Có 2 bản khắc tại đảo Sehel được cho là minh chứng cho điều này[7]. Một bản khắc khác tại Wadi Hammamat cho thấy 2 khung vỏ đạn chứa tên của Neferhotep I và Sobekhotep IV được đặt ngang hàng kế nhau[1][8]. Vài nhà khảo cổ nghĩ rằng cả 2 vua đã đồng cai trị trong một thời gian ngắn, nhưng Kim Ryholt phủ nhận điều này. Ông cho rằng, Sobekhotep cho làm như vậy để tưởng nhớ người anh của mình[2].

Neferhotep I được biết đến qua rất nhiều kỷ vật được tìm thấy khá rộng rãi trên toàn Ai Cập[14][15]: 1 kỷ vật bọ hung tìm thấy tại vùng Tell el-Yahudiya[16] và 60 con bọ hung khác tại nhiều nơi[6][17][18][19]; 2 con ấn hình trụ[20], 1 bức tượng tại Elephantine[21]; 11 bản khắc trên đá ghi tên các thành viên trong gia đình ông và 2 vị quan: thủ quỹ Senebi và tổng quản cấp cao Nebankh[2] tại Wadi el Shatt el-Rigal[22], đảo Sehel[23], Konosso[24] và Philae[24][25]; 2 tấm bia đá tại Abydos[11][26]; 2 nhà thờ tại Karnak[27]; 2 bức tượng của thần SobekHorus được nhà vua cho dựng tại Faiyum[1].

Tên của ông cũng xuất hiện trong danh sách các vua Karnak (mục thứ 34)[28]vua Turin (cột 6, dòng 25).
