The Southern Torrent Salamander (Rhyacotriton variegatus) is a species of salamander in the Rhyacotritonidae family. It is endemic to the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Adults are 1.5 - 2.4 inches long (4.0-6.2 cm) from snout to vent.[1] Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rivers, and freshwater springs.
