PEACE VILLAGE IN VIETNAM

Peace Village is a place to help relieve partly the sufferings and losses caused by the war. The beneficiaries of the Village are children with disabilities relating to Agent Orange/dioxin. They are children or grandchildren of war veterans who fought in the anti-US war of resistance of national salvation to restore peace for the Vietnamese people today.

There are several main action functions of Peace Village: checking ups, medical treatment and functional rehabilitation for children with disabilities to help them have a chance to reintegrate into their families and society and lead a useful life.

Many organizations with deep sympathy and support and kind-hearted individuals at home and abroad give them encouragement and effective and practical assistance both spiritual and material, in particular, the Village leaders and staffs have high sense of responsibilities and great efforts to help them.

Thanh Xuan Peace Village is aimed at humanitarian, good natured and medically oriented targets, for children of bad luck, suffering from congenital and other causes specially damaged by horbicider used during the war time.

Thanh Xuan Peace Village are getting back these ill-fated children to the community, integrating their life to the living rythm of the whole population. Our establishment takes the responsibility of breeding, caring, rehabilitating, (mentally and physically)giving them primary education, cultural teaching, computer teach and stone-fine art for children admitted.

The Tu Du peace village is inside the famous Tu Du maternity, the largest of all Vietnam, and located on Cong Quynh street, 3th arrondissement of Ho Chi Minh-city, near the backpackers area. The main entrance of the village is on Luong Hung Khanh street. The village is made of two buildings, built thanks to the financial help of the Oberhausen peace village in Germany. The first one dates back to 1990, and this is where the administration of the village is now. The second building was built in 1996, and this is where the children are now.
