Cholesteryl ester hay cholesterol ester là hợp chất ester giữa cholesterol và acid béo. Nó xuất hiện trong thực và có độ tan trong nước kém hơn hai thành phần của nó. Cholesteryl ester có liên quan đến bệnh xơ vữa động mạch.^[1]

Enzyme tiêu hóa (hay thủy phân) cholesteryl ester là một lipase tuyến tụy có tên cholesterol esterase (CE). Sản phẩm của quá trình này là cholesterol và acid béo tự do.

Cholesteryl ester được tìm thấy trong não người ở dạng những hạt lipid nhỏ có nhiệm vụ vận chuyển và dự trữ cholesterol.^[2]
