Sư đoàn đổ bộ đường không số 82 (82nd Airborne Division) là một sư đoàn đổ bộ đường không của Lục quân Hoa Kỳ được huấn luyện đặc biệt để thực hiện các chiến dịch nhảy dù vào các khu vực hậu phương của kẻ địch[1] với nhiệm vụ của Bộ Quốc phòng Hoa Kỳ là "sẵn sàng để chiến đấu bất cứ lúc nào, bất cứ nơi đâu" với "mức độ công nghệ và sự sẵn sàng cao nhất".[2] Chủ yếu Sư đoàn đóng tại Fort Liberty, Bắc Carolina, sư đoàn đổ bộ đường không số 82 là một phần của Quân đoàn đổ bộ đường không số 18. Sư đoàn Nhảy dù 82 là sư đoàn chiến lược cơ động nhất của Lục quân Hoa Kỳ.[3]

Sư đoàn được thành lập vào ngày 25/8/1917 tại Camp Gordon, Georgia và sau đó có thành tích chiến đấu xuất sắc trên Mặt trận phía Tây trong những tháng cuối của Chiến tranh thế giới thứ nhất. Vì các thành viên của sư đoàn khi thành lập đến từ tất cả 48 tiểu bang, sư đoàn có biệt danh là All-American, đây là ý nghĩa của chữ "AA" trên biểu tượng của sư đoàn. Sau đó, sư đoàn đã tham gia Thế chiến thứ hai. Tháng 8 năm 1942, sư đoàn được tái lập thành sư đoàn đổ bộ đường không đầu tiên của Lục quân Hoa Kỳ và đã chiến đấu trong nhiều chiến dịch trong suốt cuộc chiến.
