Jack London (12 tháng 1, 1876 - 22 tháng 11, 1916) là nhà văn nổi tiếng người Mỹ, tác giả Tiếng gọi nơi hoang dã (The Call of the Wild), Gót sắt (Iron Heel), Martin Eden, Tình yêu cuộc sống (Love of Life), Nanh trắng (White Fang) và hơn 50 tác phẩm khác.

- ^ Howard (1989), p.12: "I have carefully gone over, in my mind, the most powerful men — that is, in my opinion — in all of the world's literature and here is my list... Jack London..."
- ^ Lord(1976) p. 44: "But my favorite writers, both of prose and verse, are British or Americans. They are... Jack London... where is the Frenchman who writes, or wrote, with the fire of Jack London...?"
- ^ Herron (2004) p. 144: "The reincarnation theology espoused in the works of Jack London — most notably in The Sea Wolf (1904), Before Adam (1907), and especially The Star Rover (1915) — ultimately became the single greatest influence on Howard as a writer. In 1930 Howard wrote to his friend Harold Preece that 'London's The Star Rover is a book that I've read and reread for years, and that generally goes to my head like wine.'"

- White Fang compared to The Call of the Wild - Literary analysis
- Jack London at the Bohemian Grove From 1904 on, Jack London was a member of the Bohemian Grove, which at that time had a more literary emphasis than it does today. Charmian London wrote that "whenever feasible, our world-wanderings led us homeward in mid-summer, that he might spend at least one week of Hi-Jinks at the Bohemian Grove, situated but a few miles from the Ranch. He dreaded foregoing the marvellous annual Grove Play, words and music, acting and staging, all done by members of the Grove only." Other members of the Grove at that time included Ambrose Bierce, Gelett Burgess, John Muir, Frank Norris, and George Sterling. Refs: Charmian London (1921), The Book of Jack London, p. 19.
