Giải Oscar cho kịch bản gốc hay nhất là một giải Oscar dành cho kịch bản hay nhất, không dựa trên một tác phẩm đã xuất bản trước đây. Trước năm 1940 có một giải Oscar cho truyện hay nhất (Academy Award for Best Story). Từ năm 1940, giải đó và giải trong mục này được chia thành 2 giải. Bắt đầu từ giải Oscar năm 1957, hai thể loại này phối hợp với nhau để chỉ vinh danh một kịch bản.
