Tôm hùm là một họ sinh học (Nephropidae, đôi khi gọi là Homaridae) trong nhóm Động vật giáp xác. Tôm hùm có thân dài với cơ bắp ở đuôi. Môi trường sống của tôm thường là các khe, hang hốc dưới đáy biển.
