Andrew Jackson (15 tháng 3 năm 1767 - 8 tháng 6 năm 1845) là Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ thứ 7(1829-1837) và đã thoát khỏi vụ ám sát năm 1835. Ông là tổng thống đầu tiên của Đảng Dân chủ Hoa Kỳ. Trước khi đắc cử, Jackson từng là 1 nhà lãnh đạo quân sự Hoa Kỳ ở Florida và đã chỉ huy quân đội Mỹ năm (1815) trong trận chiến New Orleans. Ông đánh bại John Quincy Adams trong cuộc bầu cử tổng thống năm 1828. Trong nhiệm kỳ tổng thống cuối của Jackson, Chiến tranh Toledo (1835-1836) nổ ra, ông và quốc hội đã ép khiến bang Michigan bị khủng hoảng tài chính và phải đầu hàng bang Ohio (1836).
