In 1916, Ohio State became the first university in Ohio to be extended membership into the [[Association of American Universities]], and remains the only public university in Ohio among the organization's 60 members. The ''[[Washington Monthly]]'' college rankings, which seek to evaluate colleges' contributions to American society based on factors of social mobility, research, and service to the country by their graduates, in 2018 placed Ohio State 105th among national universities.

Viện Đại học Tiểu bang Ohio hay Đại học Tiểu bang Ohio (tiếng Anh: The Ohio State University, viết tắt Ohio State hay OSU) là viện đại học nghiên cứu công lập ở Columbus, Ohio, Hoa Kỳ. Viện đại học này được thành lập năm 1870 theo mô hình land-grant (chú trọng phát triển kinh tế địa phương). Hiện nay, trường đại học này là một trong những viện đại học lớn nhất ở nước Mỹ xét về quy mô đào tạo[5]. Tạp chí U.S. News & World Report hiện xếp Ohio State ở hạng 54 trong số các trường đại học hàng đầu ở Mỹ, hạng 17 trong danh sách các đại học công lập Mĩ, và hạng nhất trong các trường đại học ở Ohio[6]. Tuy Ohio quản lý một hệ thống trường đại học - cao đẳng phân quyền, Ohio State được coi là trường đại học chính của Ohio, cả trong và ngoài tiểu bang[7].
