Victor Hugo (26 tháng 2, 1802 tại Besançon – 22 tháng 5, 1885 tại Paris) là một nhà văn, nhà thơ, nhà viết kịch nổi tiếng của Pháp.

Các tác phẩm của ông rất đa dạng như: tiểu thuyết, thơ, kịch, các bài diễn văn chính trị,... Tiêu biểu cho các tác phẩm của ông là hai tác phẩm mang đậm tính nhân bản: Những người khốn khổ (Les Misérables) và Nhà thờ Đức bà Paris (Notre-Dame de Paris).

Tiểu sử

Victor Hugo(1802- 1885) là con út của ông Joseph Léopold Sigisbert Hugo (1773-1828) và bà Sophie Trébuchet (1772-1821). Ông sinh ra và lớn lên sau khi cách mạng 1789 đã thành công, song thế lực và những tàn dư phong kiến vẫn còn. Cha ông là một tướng lĩnh cách mạng, nhưng mẹ ông lại là người mang nặng tư tưởng bảo hoàng. Tài năng thơ của Hugo bộc lộ sớm từ khi di học: 15 tuổi được viện hàn lâm khích lệ, in tập thơ đầu tay. Nhưng nhà thơ trẻ những năm ấy chịu ảnh hưởng giáo dục của mẹ, cũng đứng về phía bảo hoàng
